A Solid Foundation Solution™

CHANCE manufactured anchors are rated up to 100,000 pounds each. These are available in round or square shafts manufactured from high-strength galvanized steel. Special patented brackets are used to stabilize or lift foundations in distress. CHANCE is the only company with a pre-engineered and manufactured underpinning system evaluated and listed by all the national building code agencies.

HELICAL PIER® Foundation Systems transfers the load to bearing plates that are located in stable soil. This patented system brings an economical solution to underpinning systems. Fast - Predictable - Measurable are just three advantages of this building code evaluated and accepted system.

Now the world's largest manufacturer of anchors and foundations supplies this pre-engineered system to users over the internet.

Residential construction or repair, industrial and commercial applications in limited access areas, environmentally sensitive areas, vibration free construction, loads subject to compression, as well as uplift are easily addressed with the CHANCE system.

Once your CHANCE certified installer has received the plan of repair from a qualified design group or individual, he can proceed with the repair. Remember, one of the best investments you can make is to get a soil boring on your property. This will enable the designer to determine what type of anchor and to what depth it must go to stable soil.

Usually the installer will excavate a hole at each anchor location wide enough and deep enough to place a bracket under the foundation. The leading section of the anchor with the proper number and size of helices will be installed by a rotary installing machine. Extensions are added until the helices are at the proper depth and the predetermined torque is achieved. At that point the bracket is added, the load is transferred to the anchor, and the building can be stabilized or lifted according to the plan of repair.

Standard-Duty Underpinning Brackets for Helical Pier® Foundation Systems

Patents for system, method and components 5,011,336; 5,120,163; 5,139,368; 5,171,107; 5,213,448 For use with 11/2" and 13/4" square shaft anchors, as specified below, each bracket is identified by the size stamped on the vertical gusset. Brackets also may be used in conjunction with Uplift-Restraint Bracket (see Bulletin 01-9502). Bracket comes complete with the hardware required for assembly of bracket; does not include concrete anchor bolts. The lifting assembly, consisting of the underpinning bracket and jacking tool, is designed to lift with hydraulic jack assist as shown below. However, if jack assist is not available, lifting can be done with the bolts of the bracket. The recommended method is to use a hydraulic jack with a load gauge to avoid exceeding the ratings of the brackets.

*The capacity of Chance Helical Pier® Foundation Systems is a function of many individual elements, including the capacity of the foundation, bracket, anchor shaft, helix plate and bearing stratum, as well as the strength of the foundation-to-bracket connection and the quality of anchor installation. The last row of the table shows typical capacities of the Chance Helical Pier® Foundation Systems that are achievable under normal conditions. Achievable capacities could be higher or lower depending on the above factors.
