Basement Systems

Basements are imperfect concrete structures built in soils that vary. Water in the soils leaking into basements is a problem that has troubled homeowners for over 100 years. This water will enter the basement through the walls, floors and joints between them. Over the years, contractors and engineers have developed a wide variety of methods to keep basements dry, some of these methods are more effective than others.

WaterGuard®

The WaterGuard® system can keep your basement dry permanently. WaterGuard® is a piping system engineered to solve basement water problems effecetively without worry of clogging from soils under the floor. It has large holes in the back to accept water and a flange with special segments.

The WaterGuard® system was designed as an improvement over old fashioned systems by Basement Systems Inc., the world leader in basement water control innovation.

The WaterGuard® system intercepts water at the perimeter of your basement and drains it unseen safely away - guaranteed! The system will keep your basement clean and dry so you can use the space for storage, recreational purposes, or to finish for additional living space.

Amoung the best of these methods is to install a sub-floor drainage system along the perimeter of the floor. There area a few challenges to this method, however. One is to keep the drain from being clogged by mud over the years. Many homeowners go years without a water problem and then develop ine because of existing sub-floor and sub-surface drains clogging with mud. Another is to set up the system to accept water from the walls without leaving a large unsightly gap at the edge of the floor which can collect debris from the floor, also clogging the drain. The patented WaterGuard® system is designed to meet these challenges and keep your basement dry permanently.

The patented WaterGuard® system has a design that seperates it from the soil under your floor so it will never clog. It also has a special wall flange that creates a neat space between the floor and wall to drain any wall seepage, without allowing dirt and debris from the floor to enter, The WaterGuard® system is applicable to all types of foundations including block, poured concrete, stone, etc. Weep holes are drilled into block walls to drain water out of the wall into the system. Water enters the WaterGuard® system via holes in the wall side and flows in the WaterGuard® conduit to a SuperSump or other drain.

SuperSump®

Most Basement Waterproofing Systems rely on a a sump pump as the final mechanism to get the water out of the basement. The sump pump is the HEART of the system. If the heart stops for any reason, the system fails and your basement gets flooded despite all the money you paid to dry it up. That's why if you are going to rely on a sump pump, you should make it a SuperSump®.

1. The Pump
   The SuperSump® includes the finest pump available, a high end 1/3 hp cast iron pump with a mechanical float switch. This pump was chosen as the best from among nearly 50 models. It pumps 2650 gallons per hour smoothly and quietly. It resists clogging and can pump up to 1/2" solids. It will perform reliably for many years.
   
   (Larger pumps are available for various applications.)
   
   Although the pump is very quiet, the discharge line is equipped with 2 rubber fittings for additional sound and vibration reduction. Even higher volume pumps are optional.
   
   
2. The WaterWatch® Alarm System
   Relying on a sump pump without an alarm makes no sense. If the circuit breaker trips, the pump cord is unplugged or the pump fails for any other reason, you experience costly flood damage without warning. The patented WaterWatch® sounds off (like a smoke detector) if the water rises above the point where the pump should turn on. This gives you warning to address the problem before any damage occurs.
   
   
3. The SuperLiner™
   The patented 18" x 24" smooth wall polyethylene liner is rugged, heavy duty, and has holes to allow water to flow in directly from below the floor. It features an exclusive "pump ring" on the floor of the liner which prevents the switch from hanging up on the sidewalls by keeping the pump in the center.
   
   
4. The Airtight Lid
   The patented lid keeps moisture from evaporating into your basement environment. It also keeps out bugs, odors, radon gas and quiets the pump. It keeps objects (tools, laundry, stored items) from falling into the sump hole. The lid is so strong, you can stand on it. As a safety feature, it keeps children out. It's two piece design allows the pump to be serviced without disconnecting the discharge line. Another feature is a special floor drain that lets water down, but air cannot come up through it. If a pipe breaks in your basement, the SuperSump will let the water in and pumps it out.

UltraSump®

The reliable UltraSump® back-up pump is designed and manufactured by Basement Systems Inc. specifically for our applications. When your primary pump fails because of a power outage or any other reason the water rises and automatically turns on your UltraSump® back-up system, which is powered by a battery specifically designed for long term standby use. When power is restored the battery is automatically recharged for the next emergency. The high-tech charging system was engineered for this purpose and adjusts the maintenance charge current based on the condition of the battery.

You can rest easy 24 hours a day knowing the UltraSump® is on the job, especially when you are away from home. Its outstanding gallon per minute output, automatic electronic "smart"charger, heavy duty motor and reliable switch, are a winning combination. We also recommend FloodRing® water containment system for around your water heater and FloodChek™ washer hoses to prevent flooding from these domestic water sources.

As an addition to your SuperSump®, we recommend a back-up pumping system. The UltraSump® represents the state-of-the-art in battery back-up pumping systems. When added as an option to our SuperSump®, the UltraSump® will turn on automatically if the primary pump fails to operate. The UltraSump® includes a second DC operated pump, a second automatic switching system, a "smart" charging system, and a high quality battery.

TripleSafe^TM Sump

Triple the Protection - The World's Most Reliable Pumping System ! The TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three pumps to give you complete protection. If your first pump fails, the second one takes over. If your first pump can't keep up, then it and a more powerful second pump run at the same time - more than doubling capacity. And, if your power goes out, an UltraSump Battery back-up Pump takes over - and it's all automatic!

Scenarios

• If Pump 1 fails: Pump 2 takes over
• If Pump 1 can't keep up; Both pumps 1 and 2 operate - a total of 6,200 gallons per hour!
• If Power fails: Pump 3, a battery operated " UltraSump ", takes over

Epoxy and urethane injection systems are specifically formulated for injection into cracks in concrete. They permanently restore the designed structural strength to concrete walls, bridges, dams, and parking structures. Our specialized epoxy injection resins push water away to facilitate the sealing cracks in basement walls.
