ThermalDry®

One of the differences between basement space and first floor space is the floor itself. It is the surface that we are in contact with most. The floor of the main level of our home is wood, with air space below it. The floor of our basement is dense, hard concrete. Because it sits on the cold (55° F) earth below, it is cold and uncomfortable. Further, concrete is porous and allows water vapor from the earth to pass through.
This moisture makes it feel even colder, causes carpet or other floor covering to rot, allows mold to grow, and causes the basement to smell musty. People with asthma and allergies may not be able to spend time in a basement like this. Its a problem that must be solved if you want comfortable space in your basement.
The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting™ System "floats" on the concrete floor for the most part - the tiles are not fastened to the floor, except for a few fasteners at the edge, to begin the installation.
Tongue and groove edges of the matting are fitted together, to form a vapor tight floor that's ready for carpet. Your MidAmerica Basement Systems representative will be glad to show you samples.
The ThermalDry® Solution
The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting™ System is a specially engineered polypropylene, 17" square tile, which is installed "tongue in groove" on the floor. Unlike systems that use wood, the ThermalDry® plastic membrane is totally water and vapor proof.
The unique grid design on the bottom of the tile creates an air space that insulates the floor, and does not cause water vapor to condense. The installation takes away only 3/8" of precious ceiling height in the basement, instead of 4" for other methods of dealing with the problem.
Comfort to the Highest Degree.
The air space created by the ThermalDry® system offers an insulating quality, because your carpeting is not in contact with the cold concrete. The finished floor is warmer, so summertime condensation forming on cold floors surfaces is greatly reduced or eliminated.
The matting will never rot, corrode or deteriorate. For example, a plumbing leak will not ruin the matting, like it would any wood flooring. After the ThermalDry® installation, you can lay carpet with confidence. The floor will be dry and comfortable, so you can use the room for a bedroom, playroom, office or recreation!
You don't have to finish your basement to take advantage of the ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting™ System. Many installations have been made for purposes of creating a dry comfortable unfinished space! Your stored items, such as boxes, will not be ruined by the damp concrete floor.
The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting™ System provides a more comfortable, healthier, softer floor surface in your home.Your basement is valuable space and a significant percentage of the living space in your home. It is a place that can be turned into comfortable living space for far less than building a new addition. The ThermalDry® Basement Floor Matting™ System makes it possible
